Transportation Program Reverts Back to Faith In Action

This past spring, Faith in Action: Medina County Caregivers and the Medina County Red Cross entered into an agreement to merge, and the local Red Cross Transportation Program emerged from that collaboration.

Because the American National Red Cross is focusing all its efforts on ensuring that we can deliver on our core mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, the Medina County Chapter is transferring the Transportation Program back to Faith in Action, which is ready and willing to do so.

“It’s been a successful program to help local senior citizens and we want to make sure this program gets all the attention it deserves,” said Beth Kilchenman, Red Cross executive  director.  “Expenses to help local families after house fires and other disasters have increased by over 100% this year, so the argument to concentrate on core services makes sense.”

“The collaboration was a good idea at the time, but no one had a crystal ball to know that Red Cross would need to re-focus and re-structure,” said Al Morrison, Faith in Action board chair and Red Cross board member.  “We know that our volunteers will be there, no matter what, to provide rides to those all-important medical appointments.”
